Pianist Dan Chouinard invites a guest singer to join him in raising a musical toast to the music birthdays and other anniversaries of the month. For March, Thomasina Petrus joins Dan to celebrate Karen Carpenter (March 2), Liza Minelli (March 12), Nat King Cole (March 17), Aretha Franklin (March 25), Vicki Lawrence (March 26), and of course, Cheerleading Safety Month.

Joining Dan on March 8, 2025, is singer, songwriter, actor and maker of (in)famous cashew brittle, Thomasina Petrus, a standout Twin Cities cabaret and theater veteran whose work includes “The Color Purple” at Park Square, “Beauty and the Beast” at the Ordway, and many productions as Billie Holiday in “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill.” Dan Chouinard is a St. Paul-based all-purpose pianist and accordionist, sing-along enabler, concert soloist and accompanist, French and Italian teacher, and writer and host of live history-and-music shows for MPR and TPT. Most recently at Crooners, Thomasina and Dan have appeared together with T Mychael Rambo and Charmin Michelle in “Rondo ’56: Remembering St. Paul’s Black Main Street”.
