And The Girls All Sang… Girl Group Music from Doo-Wop to Pop!
Nov 7 | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
$25.00 - $35.00A Night of Great Girl-Group Songs!
We’re on show #4 of our music series! After exploring iconic solos, famous duets, and classic jazz trios, we conclude with music from trend-setting girl groups. Between 1960 and 1966, over 750 girl groups charted a song in the US and UK. This ‘girl group’ era produced a distinct blend of gospel, rhythm and blues, doo-wop, and quirky pop. The night will feature music from legendary American female pop groups, highlighting Motown icons like The Chiffons, The Marvelettes, and The Supremes. You’ll also hear some jazz-funk from The Pointer Sisters, ‘cookin’’ jazz from Patti Austin, and gospel-jazz from the Yellowjackets.
